Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Coaching

Why narcissistic abuse recovery coaching? If you have narcissistic parents and/or have been in a long-term relationship with a narcissist or other Cluster B disordered person, you have likely experienced complex relational trauma: prolonged, systematic, and targeted neglect and abuse. You also may have been traumatized by others who failed to understand or denied the realities of what you’ve gone through.

Such experiences set you up for self-defeating beliefs and patterns that may be affecting every aspect of your life—your self-esteem and sense of identity, your health and self-care, your relationships, even the work you do in the world.

You may be experiencing

  • hypervigilance
  • emotional reactivity
  • compulsive self-doubt
  • a harsh inner critic
  • depression and anxiety
  • avoidance
  • people-pleasing tendencies
  • compulsive guilt and shame
  • perfectionism
  • self-sabotage
  • episodes of dissociation
  • large memory gaps
  • addictions
  • addictive abuse cycles
  • poor self-care
  • panic attacks
  • nightmares and flashbacks
  • disabling fear of judgment or criticism
  • confused relationship boundaries
  • a sense of foreshortened future
  • chronic sleep disturbances
  • unexplained chronic pain/illness

The Role of Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Coaching

Therapy has an important role to play in the recovery process, but because many therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists are not adequately trained in personality disorders or in treating narcissistic relational trauma (CPTSD), some survivors do not find the help they need when seeking therapeutic support. For those looking for alternatives, I offer specialized coaching.

As a narcissistic trauma recovery coach, I can help you

  1. understand narcissistic personality disorder and other Cluster B disorders;
  2. recognize narcissistic patterns in families and relationships;
  3. understand human attachment and attachment trauma;
  4. identify and interpret narcissistic motives and behavior;
  5. understand codependency in relation to narcissism;
  6. recognize patterns of complex posttraumatic stress;
  7. validate your experience;
  8. identify your feelings and triggers;
  9. understand your coping style(s);
  10. establish healthier boundaries;
  11. develop self-awareness;
  12. build self-esteem;
  13. practice self-care and self-advocacy;
  14. understand and process grief; and
  15. build emotional literacy and resilience.

If you have kids with a narcissistic partner or ex, I can help you

  1. understand what they are going through;
  2. recognize signs of trauma;
  3. identify the role they play(ed) in the family;
  4. interpret sibling dynamics;
  5. interpret dynamics with their other parent;
  6. rebuild their trust in you;
  7. support their healing; and
  8. manage coparenting.

Thank you for all your help these last few months. You really fast tracked my ability to understand my father and family dynamic so I could start pinpointing impacts it has had on me. I was in a really desperate state and you helped me out of it and be better equipped to manage it.

—Ashlee

Your validation and insights into patterns of NPD behaviors have been extremely helpful, and are now a ‘resource’ inside my mind as I think about what may or may not be possible in any future contact with my mom or my brother. There’s also something about your spirit and energy—this combination of (what feels like) your empowered self with your compassion—that is incredibly moving and inspiring to me. It comes through in your live voice as much as it does in your writing. I hope you will write more. The world needs you. Thank you for traveling with me on my journey.

Julie brings a unique set of tools to the thorny, confusing problem of narcissistic relationships and family systems. Her coaching is based on years of meticulous research, which provides credible, comforting context, but clarity and empathy are what really define her distinctive coaching style. Patient and thoughtful, Julie enabled me at long last to validate my own experience. I can’t imagine a more intuitive, knowledgeable, articulate or gifted guide in navigating the fraught, often crazy-making experience that is life under the sway of a narcissist.

—Leslie

—Chin

Wow. You are so good at what you do. You are amazing!!!!

—Mary

Julie has helped me immensely in processing the fact of and nature of my mother’s narcissism. She listens carefully, and with gentle but laserlike precision narrows in on carefully constructed denials and blindspots, helping reveal the truth. She also listens with strong empathy, and when talking with her I never felt alone or like I couldn’t handle the truth. I appreciate her deep understanding, keen insights, and optimism about my ability to shake the shackles of having been the golden child in my family.

—Sara

I find this so beneficial, so helpful, your explanations and use of language are so powerful. You are better than most therapists.

—Amy, marriage and family therapist

Every minute talking with you is gold.

—Oskar

Julie has been a lifesaver for me. I can’t say enough about how she has helped me on my journey to being whole. When we talk I feel like I’m talking to a good friend. With her knowledge and wisdom, she could be charging much more, and I’m so grateful that she keeps her rate affordable so people like me can get help. She is truly doing god’s work.

—Antoinette

This has been extraordinarily helpful.

—Susanna

Having talked with you in such depth, I had a new feeling of lightness of heart. Maybe it was the telling you, a fellow sufferer, that validated my experiences. Fixed something in me . . . ?
